S. Navy in Puerto Rico for two years, died suddenly August 29, eighteen days after his nineteenth birthday as a result of a heart attack. Funeral services for the deceased were conducted Sunday, September 2 at Bethany Baptist Church at 3 o'clock p. m. with Rev. W. R. Osteen officiating. Son of H. J. Smith of Brinson, he was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, and is survived by the following relatives, three brothers, S/Sgt. Robert W. Smith, England, Ray Smith and Randall Smith, both of Brinson; seven sisters, Mrs. Marcus Donaldson, Miami, Fla., Mrs. Pat Brunetti, Arlington, Va., Mrs. Billy Moore, Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Charles Barber, Bainbridge, Mrs. DeWitt Ingram and Mrs. Harold Yates, Brinson and Miss Frances Smith, Miami, Fla. Those serving as active pallbearers were: Robert Cohen, Deese Connell, Ray Earnest, Jason King, H. L. Griner and Glenn Earnest. Honorary pallbearers were: Remus Kelly, Billy Mills, Larry Griner, Charles Wood, David Williams, Rudolph Stone, Tommy Braswell, A. J. Braswell, Tommy Logue, Jerry Brewer, Roy Brewer, John Brown, Tommy Rentz, Eugene Brock, Ronnie Musgrove, Willie Joe Williams, Billy Griffin, Jimmy Gardner, Bruce Holly, Bobby Barber, Jimmy McCook, Don Hatcher, H. L. Griner, Glenn Earnest, Jimmy King and Taylor Brooks. Interment followed in Bethany Cemetery with Ivey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
