Strickland Killed In Action In Belgium Mrs. Johnnie Louise Strickland was recently informed by the War Department that her husband, S/Sgt. Charles H. Strickland, was killed in action in Belgium, January 3, 1944. S/Sgt. Strickland was born in Decatur County, spending most of his life here. He was graduated from the Climax Hih School in 1938 and entered the service on January 6, 1942. He received his training at Camp Wheeler, Ga., where he remained as an instructor until July 15, 1944. At that time he was sent to Camp Clairborne, La., for one month before going overseas in September. Survivors include his wife and little son, Charles Herschell, born January 6, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. H. Strickland; two sisters, Isabel and Sara Agnes, and one brother, Ben Hill, Jr., all of Bainbridge.
