Strickland Mrs. Carolyn Rich Strickland, 61, died July 18, 1989, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital Extended Care Center in Tallahassee, Florida, after a short illness. Graveside services were held July 20 at 11 a.m. at the family lot in Oak City Cemetery with Dr. Al Reese and the Rev. Frank Short officiating. Mrs. Strickland was a Bainbridge native, born here Sept. 7, 1927. She was a housewife and the administrative assistant of the Bainbridge-Decatur County Chamber of Commerce for 25 years, until her retirement in 1987. Mrs. Strickland was a nominee for the Bainbridge-Decatur County Woman of the Year and was a charter member of the Bainbridge Junior Women's Club. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was pianist for many functions and a member of the choir. She was preceded in death by her husband James Clifton Strickland. Surviving Mrs. Strickland are three daughters, Janice Trawick of Bainbridge, Kay Foldes of Rome and Jane Camp of Monroe; four grandchildren, Robert Cheshire Trawick of Bainbridge, Rich Langston Foldes of Rome and Chambless Randolph and Wesley Sanders Camp of Monroe; her step-mother, Alice Rich of Bainbridge; one sister Susan Coppinger of Bainbridge; one brother, Augustus J. Rich of Rockledge, Florida, and her mother-in law, Gussie Strickland of Cairo. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to favorite charities. Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
