Boyce bonedigger42@hotmail.com ==================================================================== The following appeared in the Post Searchlight Newspaper, Bainbridge, GA David Yates Dies Following Illness; Rites Held Dec. 26 [1962] David Yates, 20, died December 24 in Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 26 at 3:30 p.m. in Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. W. R. Osteen and Dr. Lewis Wright officiating. A graduate of Bainbridge High School, the deceased later attended school in Albany. At intervals he was employed by Economy Auto Store. He was well liked and loved for his fine character and warm personality by a host of friends who join his family in mourning his passing. A lifetime resident of Bainbridge, Mr. Yates was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church. He is survived by his parents Mr. And Mrs. R. H. Yates of Bainbridge; two brothers, Robert Yates, Fort Worth, Texas and Hill Yates, Bainbridge; a sister, Mrs. Joe Cook, Birmingham, Ala; and his grandparents, Mr. And Mrs. R. A. Hill of Bainbridge. Those serving as active pallbearers were Phillip Barber, Buddy Rentz, Bill Barber, Glenn Earnest, Ray Earnest and David Napier. Those who served as honorary pallbearers were: David Sims, Hasten Wilkerson, Luttrell Wilkerson, Joe Adams, Jimmy Hilton, Jimmy King, Jason King, Bobby Grollman, Billy Howell, Wayman Brock, A. J. Braswell, Devaughn Valentine, Rusty Simpson, H. L. Griner and Johnny Gambrell. Interment followed in Bethany Cemetery with Ivey Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
