Chestnut Knob Cemetery Inscriptions DeKalb County, GA

CHESTNUT KNOB CEMETERY
DEKALB CO. GA


This cemetery is very old, showing up on maps of Civil War engagements yet 
so far remains a mystery.  It is large, measuring 100’ x 200+’ yet we 
found only four inscribed markers.  There are numerous field stones and 
sink holds indicating graves but the area is so overgrown with weeds, 
trees, briars and poison oak it was impossible to tell how many.  One 
headstone is visible from the road, the other three are much farther back.

The cemetery is located off Fleetwood Road near the intersection of that 
road with Constitution Road. Constitution is off Moreland near the DeKalb 
County Youth Detention Facility and Chestnut Hills Cemetery.
