Dekalb County Georgia Cemetery Old Mount Calvary Methodist or Old Crossroads File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Paul Graham Table of Contents page: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/dekalb.htm Georgia Table of Contents: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm Old Mount Calvary, DeKalb Co., GA There are two names for this cemetery that need to be included in the file, but I personally like the name Old Mount Calvary Methodist Churchyard Cemetery better than Old Cross Roads. Old Mount Calvary Methodist Churchyard Cemetery or Old Cross Roads Methodist Churchyard Cemetery This cemetery is located on the north side of Lawrenceville Highway east of Tucker at Indian Trail Drive, less than 50 yards from Gwinnett County. If you get to Mountain Industrial Boulevard, you've gone too far. I have put surnames in alphabetical order by last name, but I maintained the groupings in each plot so far as they were the same last name. This list is not alphabetical by first name. I have recorded relationships that are clearly marked on the stone. I have not attempted to make connections on my own, even when husband/wife relationships are obvious. The obvious ones should be clear just by the plot organization. This cemetery is becoming very overgrown in many places. There are a large number of unmarked graves or graves marked with only fieldstones. I have not attempted to describe them here. This cemetery includes one of my favorite grave markers, that of William McDaniel. You'll know why once you read the inscription. The marker is large and very ornate and is one of the most prominent in the cemetery. There is also one marker that says simply "TAVARICH." I don't know if this is a first or last name.
