Obituary of John Chapman
Transcribed by William L. Stephenson, Jr. January 2002

The Baptist Church of Christ, Bethel (Georgia), in
Conference, held the following proceedings:

Whereas, in the mysterious providence of God, our much
beloved brother and Senoir Deacon, John Chapman, was, in
the 7th inst., suddenly called to his rest and eternal
home.

Resolved, That in his death the country looses an
eminently valuable and honored citizen, our Church one of
its strongest pillars of support, and one of its
brightest examples of piety.  The poor of the land are
bereaved of one whose purse and home were ever open to
their wants, and his bereaved family lose all completed
in husband, father, and Master.

Resolved, That these proceedings be published in the
Christian Index, and a copy containing the same be
furnished to the bereaved family.
