Dec. 19th

Mrs. Eunice Fowler who has been ill for the past few weeks  died at the home 
of her son F. M. Fowler at Swagg.  She was doubtless the oldest woman in the 
county. She was born in South [s/b North] Carolina, Nov 1826.

While young she married John Hilborn who was later killed in the Mexican War. 

Afterwards she married Samuel Fowler. He died in 1862 and left her the mother 
of eight children.

She came to Alabama and all of the children lived to be grown. She joined the 
M.E.Church many years ago.  To mourn her loss she leaves eight children, 58 
grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren.
