At midnight of Tuesday, October 25th, Mr. Wiley Leverett died at his home in the Upper fifth district of Houston county. The interment was in the home cemetery Wednesday. He was born in Dekalb county January 18th, 1821 therefore lacking only 8 months of being 84 years of age. He moved to Houston county in 1851, and for 36 years he had lived on the place where he died. He was a man of strong convictions, energetic, a good friend and neighbor, an excellent citizen. Public spirited, charitable, kind and true, his friends were all those who knew him well. He was married three times and the father of eighteen children. He is survived by his last wife, nine sons and four daughters. A truly good man, as he saw and understook the right, has been called to his eternal reward. He was one of the best-known men in Houston Co. For a year or more, he was in declining health, confined to his bed for two weeks or more prior to his death. The friends of the bereaved wife, sons, daughters and grandchildren extend their sincere sympathy. Additional Comments: I am searching for the parents/siblings of Wiley Leverett.
