Roberts, who for so many years ably presided over the superior courts of the Oconee Judicial District. Hal, as he was generally known, had many friends in Bleckley County. In Eastman and Dodge County, he was loved and honored by all, and it was said of him that he will be missed more, perhaps, than anyone would be in the community. His interests were numerous, and he touched the life of the community at more angles than any one else there. He was a man of the highest integrity of character, and was most generous in his dealings with his fellowman. He had filled many positions of honor and trust, and was the current representative from Dodge County in the General Assembly at the time of his death. He was, at the time of his death and had been for many years, president of the board of education of the City of Eastman. He had also served for several terms as judge of the City Ccourt of Eastman. He was affilited with the Presbyterian Church of Eastman, of which he was an active, loyal and consistent member. Judge Roberts married Annie Adams, daughter of Littleton L. Adams and Ella Slade Adams, September 3, 1899. He graduation from Eastman High School, attended North Georgia Agricultural College and graduated from Mercer University Law School. He began practicing law with his father in Eastman, and after his father died, formed the law partnership of Smith and Roberts with Dudley Smith. Judge Roberts and his wife had several children.
