(Jim) Carroll williamcarrollj@bellsouth.net May 30, 2012, 11:28 am The Eastman Times Journal 3-2-1950 Page 7 Mr. Howell, Rt. 6, Succumbs at Home Mr. Jim Howell, 57 year old farmer of Eastman, Rt. 6, died at his home suddenly Feb. 23 of a heart attack. He was the son of the late Ashley and Janie Allen Howell. He was a veteran of the first world war and a member of the American Legion. Funeral services were conducted at Empire Baptist Church Feb. 25 by Revs. J. B. Evans and Williams. Interment was in Bowers Cemetery with Martin-Peacock Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Joe Ward, Walter Daniell, Johnny Thompson, Howard Ward, Howard Rogers, and Leroy Carr. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mae Howell; three sons, Tommy Lee, James, and Ennis Howell, Eastman; three daughters, Miss Evelyn Howell, Mrs. Opal Taylor, and Mrs. Pearl Branch, Eastman; five brothers, Ernest, Allen, Willie, Ellis, and Henry Howell, Eastman; two sisters, Mrs. Will Holder and Miss Harpie Howell, Eastman; also one step-daughter, Mrs. Juanita DeNartie, New York. Additional Comments: His first wife was Emmie Campbell Howell who is also buried at Bowers Cemetery.
