CHARLES JONES CALLED BY DEATH. Hon. Charles Jones for many years a prominent and influential citizen of Dodge County, died at his home, Eastman, Route Four, Tuesday, following an extended illness of Bright's disease. Funeral services were conducted at Bethlehem Church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. P. A. Jessup and Rev. H. L. Driskell, afterwhich the body with Masonic honors, Mr. Jones having been a faithful member of that order. The pallbearers were J. D. Cooper, Ross Livingston, T. A. Stuckey, W. B. Graham, J. B. Jones, and H. M. O'Callaghan. J. W. Peacock Company was in charge as funeral directors. The deceased is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters, the sons and daughters being as follows:m Messrs. John, Frank and Monroe Jones, all of this county; Mrs. Mary King, of Vidalia, and Mrs. Nancy Nixon, of North Carolina; also one brother and one sister, Mr. Robert Jones, of Milan, and Mrs. Nancy Mullis of Florida. Mr. Jones represented his county in the General Assembly of Georgia, and was county surveyor several years. He was a member of the Baptist church and Masonic Lodge. As long as his health would permit he took an active interest in the religious, educational and political affairs of his county, and his advice on all matters of public interest was highly esteemed by his friends and neighbors. Additional Comments: Compiler Notes: He was the son of William Britton Jones who was bor 1797 in South Carolina and died 19 Jul 1877 in Dodge County, Georgia. His mother Nancy Ann Raffield was born 1816 in Sumter County, South Carolina and died 16 Nov 1889 in Dodge County, Georgia. They are buried in the Wm B. Jones Family Cemetery, Dodge County, Georgia.
