JOHN R. JONES Mr. John R. Jones, an aged and highly respected citizen, died at the home of his son, Mr. J. D. Jones, about two miles north of Eastman, on November 21, of the infirmities of old age, he being 76 years old at the time of his death. Funeral services were conducted at Bethlehem Church Thursday afternoon by Rev. J. B. Evans. The following served as pallbearers; Clarence Jones, Ernest Peacock, Lester Saunders, Theodore Jones, Charles Jones and Robert Holcomb. The following grandchildren served as flower girls: Sarah Mac Jones, Ruby Saunders, Willie Louise Jones, Kenneth Jones, Hazel Jones, Christiana Peacock. Interment was in the church cemetery. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. N. M. Peacock, Mrs. L. M. Jones, Mrs. W. J. Saunders, J. L. Jones, Eastman; Mrs. E. J. Acuff, Chattanooga, Tenn.; S. G. Jones, Atlanta; Mrs. Ivy Wright, J. C. and W. B. Jones, Eastman, Mrs. A. A. Holcomb and H. B. Jones, Cochran; also 27 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Will Hutto, Hazelhurst; Mrs. J. A. Woodward, Eastman, and Mrs. Charles Henderson, Pitts; and one brother, Calvin Jones, Ocilla. Additional Comments: Compiler Notes: His wife was Sarah Harrell (1865-1942) She is buried at Bethlehem by her husband. He was the son of: John William Jones (1836-1915) Who was a member of CO,"K" 49th REG'T "Pulaski Grays. His mother was Maragaret Taylor (1833-1898).
