N. Parkerson, 79, retired farmer, and former tax collector of Dodge County, died at his home in Eastman Wednesday night, February 14, following an extended illness. Mr. Parkerson was one of the county's more influential citizens, and for many years he was recognized as one of the most successful farmers in this section. He was a native of Dodge County, and had resided here all his life. One December 20, 1888, Mr. Parkerson married the former Miss Vienna J. Peacock, and they had only recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eastman, where funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 3:30 by the pastor, Rev. Max O'Neal, assisted by Rev. O. A. Grant. Serving as pallbearers were K. P. Moore, J. R. Williams, Graham Bowen, L. M. Stuckey, Jim Gary and Manning Tripp. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, with Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Surviving are his wife, and 10 children, Will D. Parkerson, Cadwell; Mrs. S. E. Bowen, Moultrie; Mrs. C. W. McCranie, B. D., Theo, Kermit, Harry, and B. J. Parkerson, all of Eastman, and Mrs. Barron Burnette, Memphis, Tenn.; also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Additional Comments: This is my Great-grandfather and I would like to point out that the obit stated 10 children survived, only 9 were listed. His son, Charlie, was omitted from the list on sons.
