H. Pierce Mrs. W. H. Pierce died at her home here last Saturday morning following a long illness. She was a native of this county, having been born Januray 21, 1862 as the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alex McPhail. She married the late Wm. Henry Pierce October 27, 1877 who preceded her to the grave thirteen years ago. Having united with the Baptist church in 1876 she lived a devout Christian life and her membership was at Empire at the time of death. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Pope Hulett and interment was in the Bowers Cemetery. Survivors are two sons, H. A. Pierce of Empire and J. J. Pierce of Palatka, Fla.; six daughters, Mrs. T. B. Haynes, Empire, Mrs. W. J. Edge, Melbourne, Fla., Mrs. E. L. Wood, Eau Gallie, Fla., and Mrs. Freeman Brown and Miss Inez Pierce, both of Cochran. The pallbearers were Columbus Pierce, Jim and Vance Haynes, Lonnie, Jr., and Elbert Howell. T. W. Fisher & Son were funeral directors.
