Services for James B. Willcox, who died Thursday, April 30, in the Dodge County Hospital, were held Friday in the chapel of Stokes-Southerland Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Cobb and Rev W. D. Wood officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery. A solo was sung by Malone Pace with Mrs. Malone Pace at the organ. Honorary casketbearers were Russell Ross, John Daniel Law, Clarence Burch, Jerry Farmer, Robert Harrell, Tom Lister, Paul Hall, J. C. Law, Steve Law. Active casketbearers were James Greer Willcox, Jim Willcox, William Willcox, Jr., Victor Jarvis, Lamar Williamson, and A. J. Lowery, Jr. Mr. Willcox was a native of Dodge county and lived here all of his life. He was acharter member of New Daniel Baptist church and served as clerk and on the Board of Deacons for a number of years. He was a charter member of the Woodmen of the World in Dodge county and was on the board of directors of the REA when first oranized. He served two terms as Dodge County Tax Receiver from 1917 to 1925, and was the first president of the Dodge County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Mattie Thompson Willcox of Eastman, a daughter, Mrs. A. J. Lowery, Sr., of Hazelhurst, four sons, John D. Willcox, Jimmy Lee Willcox and Tommy Willcox, all of Eastman, William Willcox of Hawkinsville, three sisters, Mrs. Tom Bryant and Mrs. Bessie Thompson, both of Eastman, and Mrs. Nannie Cheek of Rhine, nine grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.
