He served as guardian for Isaac Franklin Ward and Mary Ann M. Ward, minors of David Ward, who was deceased in the 1840s. David T. was released from that guardianship in 1850. In October of that year, Isaac was living near David T. according to the Federal Census. Robert Emmett Ward died in Dooly County 4 Dec 1855. He had been born 8 March 1818 and married MileyAnn Purvis 20 Feb 1853 in Dooly County. David T. Ward became the administrator for Robert's estate in 1856, and was appointed to be guardian for Robert's son, David Bennett Ward, who was born 9 January 1854. Robert's widow, MileyAnn Purvis Ward, died 6 March 1882. David Bennett Ward died 26 April 1929. In all probability, Robert Emmett was David T. Ward's brother.(Source for many of these birth, marriage, and death dates=Ward/Lupo family Bible owned by Rosalynn A. Scarlett, GG Granddaughter of David Bennett Ward.) By standards of the day, as reflected in the Agricultural Census records of 1850 and 1860, David T. Ward was a successful farmer., with growing acreage of improved lands. With the coming of the War Between the States, David T. Ward was also one of the men appointed locally 22 Oct 1860 to serve on a Committee of Vigilance to assist in maintaining order. Serving as Justice of the Peace for Dooly County the next year, in 1861, David T. Ward continued to exercise his civic responsibility. His signature can be found on several marriage records in the Probate Judge's Office. Mr. Ward died Testate in Vienna. His Last Will and Testament was probated 5 March 1863, Will Book A, pages 98-99. He left most of his estate to his wife, Sarah Ann. She was still living in 1900, making her home with her son, Robert Emmett. Linda Ward Meadows 9088 Val-Del Rd.
