Among the names of the regular army who have been lately promoted by the President, we see that of brevel 2d Lieut. David R. Jones of the 2d Regiment of Infantry, to be 2d Lieutenant, vice Martin resigned. Lieut. Jones is the son of our worthy citizen D. B. Jones, Esq., of Dooly county. He graduated at West Point the present year, and asked for immediate service in Mexico. We are pleased to see that his military career has commenced so auspiciously.
