We recommend to the Inferior court, to take such steps as will enable our county to participate in the general school fund and if necessary to assess a tax on the State tax, not to exceed twelve and a half per cent, for such purpose. Convinced as we are of the importance of schooling, we respectfully ask of the Inferior court, the fulfillment of this recommendation, and further, we recommend the Inferior court to throw out of the Grand Jury Box, the name of Robt. Greer, for ungentlemanly conduct as a Juror. We recommend that the county Treasurer whose books we have examined and find neat and satisfactorially kept, the collection of all demands in his hands as soon as practicable. The books of the Clerk of the Superior and Inferior courts, we have also examined, and find them kept in a manner creditable to that officer, and a balance in his hands of one hundred and nineteen dollars and fifty-cents—the estray book, also, we have examined, and find it kept in neat mechanical order, but the returns made in many instances by the Justices, not full nor satisfactory, and respectfully ask of them in future when making returns, a stricter compliance with the law. In taking leave of his Honor, Judge Warren, we tender him our respectful thanks, for the very able and minute charge and courtesy to this body for the present term—and we, with the most respectful deference to his Honor, do not think that every alteration [is] an improvement, and that his Honor will in future, when presiding in this county, have the parties interested in Court called as heretofore. To the Solicitor General, Col. Patterson, we present our thanks for his zeal in ferreting out offenders, and his polite attention to this body. We request our presentments to be published in the Albany Patriot. CHARLES H HIGDON, Foreman. Robert M Herington, James G.
