All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ The following is the first deed entered in Dougherty County Deed Records Deed Book 1 page 1 State of Georgia Bibb County This indenture made and entered into the twenty fifth day of January Eighteen hundred and fifty four between Charles Day of the County of Bibb and state of Georgia of the one part and William W. Cheever of the County of Dougherty and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Charles Day for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid by the said William W. Cheever at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained and sold unto the said William W. Cheever his heirs and assigns, all that certain tract, lot or parcel of land, situate lying and being in the first 1st district of originally Early, now the County of Dougherty, the same being known and distinguished in the plan of said district by the number one hundred and one (101) and containing two hundred and fifty acres according to the original survey, be the same more or less, which tract, lot or parcel of land was granted by the State of Georgia unto Charles Day on the twenty third day of May Eighteen hundred and forty two, said tract lot or parcel of land having such shape, form, marks and boundaries as appear on the plat to the grant from said state to the said Charles Day for the same. To have and to hold said tract, lot or parcel of land and premises, and all and every part thereof to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said William W. Cheevers his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple; And the said Charles Day does by virtue of these presents, warrant and defend the right and title of the said bargained premises unto the said William W. Cheever his heirs and assigns, against the right, title and claim of himself, his heirs and assigns forever.
