IN WATERY GRAVE TWELVE MONTHS
After having been in the water for twelve months, the body of Engineer Elijah 
Pate. of Albany, who was killed at the Columbia, Ala., drawbridge on the night 
of December 20, 1904, has been recovered at Appalachicola, Fla.

There were three men on the engine which went through the open drawbridge into 
the Chattahoochee river.  The remains of Fireman Bates and Supernumerary 
Engineer Robins were recovered after a few weeks, but he remains of Engineer 
Pate drifted to the sea, where the body was found.  It was positively 
indentified and interred at Albany.
