E. Smith Dies in Atlantic City - Funeral of Former Albanian Will Be Held Here Thursday" Mr. William E. Smith, of Miami, Fla., formerly of Albany, who died Saturday in a private hospital in Atlantic City, will be buried here Thursday. He was taken ill while on his vacation suffering three heart attacks which caused his death. Mr. Smith was known and loved by many in Albany where he was born and lived until twelve years ago when he moved to Miami. He was a son of the "late" Congressman Wm E. Smith and Mary A. Williams Smith. After he was admitted to the bar, he succeed his brother, the late Samuel Smith, as ordinary of Dougherty county, which office he held for several terms. An artist, a musician and a gifted writer, he later gave up the practice of law and in his last years was a "creative" artist. he loved the sea and found his greatest happiness in being near it. Of a genial disposition he had many friends who enjoyed his wit and humor and his hand was always out to help a fellow man. Surviving are his wife, three sisters, Mrs. W. L. Davis, Mrs. W.N. Ticknor, Miss Augusta Smith and other relatives in this city, who have the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement. The body will arrive in Albany Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The funeral will be held in the chapel of the Albany Undertaking Company at 4:30 o'clock, with the Rev. J. Ed. Fain, pastor of the First Methodist Church conducting the service. Dr. W. Raleigh White, pastor of the First Baptist Church will assist. Interment will be in Oakview Cemetery. The following pall bearers are requested to meet at the establishment of the Albany Undertaking Company at 4:15 o'clock; Clayton Jones, Paul Jones, O. F. Tarver, H. T. McIntosh, R. L. Barnes, R. H. Warren, Jr., C. M. Clark and W. H. Burt.
