The Rev. G. Merrill Meadows, pastor of Byne Memorial Baptist Church will conduct services. Internment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Yank Houston, Ken Adams, Grady Railey, Leon Hambrick, Rodney Bierman and Jack Adams; honorary, employees of City, Water, Gas and Light Department. Mr. Mathis, 55, of 403 Roosevelt Ave. died unexpectedly Monday morning at his home. He had been a resident of Albany for the last 41 years, and for over 30 years had been employed by the City of Albany. Besides his wife, the former Miss Jewell Seaborn of Albany, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. M.A. Reeves, Albany; Mrs. Neva Stephenson, St. Simon's Island, and Mrs. Agnew McDonald, MacClenny, Fl.; a brother, W.W. {Pete} Mathis, Albany; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Vera Mathis, Albany, and a number of neices and nephews.
