Albany Herald - Obituaries
SHELLMAN — Rubie Glasscock Aycock, 97, from Shellman, died July 5, 2007, at the 
Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home in Cuthbert, GA, after a long illness. 

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 7, 2007, at 3 p.m. 
in Eastview Cemetery in Shellman with the Rev. Olin Johnson officiating. 

Mrs. Aycock was born December 3, 1909, in Hartselle, AL, the oldest of five 
children with only a sister, Lillie Mae Holmes still living. She was preceded 
in death by her parents, Mace Ryan Glasscock Sr. and Mattie Mariah Mote 
Glasscock of Hartselle, AL, and three brothers, Ottis Glasscock, Mace Glasscock 
Jr. and Gordon M. Glasscock, all of North Alabama. 

Mrs. Aycock, after high school was a trained pianist and became a homemaker and 
piano teacher at Shellman High School in the 1950’s, and was a pianist for 
Friendship Baptist Church for over 65 years where she was a member. 

Mrs. Aycock was a long time member of the Shellman Chapter of the D.A.R. 
(Daughters of the American Revolution) until her health forced retirement. She 
was married to the late O.T. Aycock and is the mother of Oscar R. Aycock, wife, 
Annette of Shellman; daughter, Mrs. Martha Faye Smith and husband, Jimmy of 
Carnegie and Henry Aycock and wife, Dale Aycock of Shellman. 

Mrs. Aycock has four grandchildren, Ryan Aycock of Shellman, Lorette Aycock of 
Indian Harbor Beach, FL, Steve Smith of Indian Harbor Beach, Fl, and Evelyn 
Southall of Blakely and many nieces and nephews on both sides of the families.
