Blackshear SHELLMAN — John Willie "JW" Blackshear, 79, of Shellman died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. from Shellman United Methodist Church. The Revs. Hal Lasseter and Jackie Williams will officiate and interment will be in East View Cemetery in Shellman. Mr. Blackshear was born December 11, 1923, in Bibb County, GA, son of the late John W. Blackshear and Mae Barber Johns. He was a retired farmer, an Army veteran of World War Two and was a member of Shellman United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Joan Mason Blackshear of Shellman; a son, Jim Blackshear and friend, Tara Nordman of Shellman; two daughters, Mary Ann Rosenholm and her husband, Rosy of St. Simmons Island, Tammy Merritt and her husband Charles "Rooster" of Cuthbert; a daughter-in-law, Merry Lynn Blackshear of Shellman; nine grandchildren, Jason Swindall, Jake Swindall, Marlene Blackshear, Abby Blackshear, John Wyatt Blackshear, Rachel Blackshear, Carrie Ann Merritt, Drake Merritt and Jordan Nordman. Memorials may be made to Shellman United Methodist Church, Shellman, GA 39886. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Curry Funeral Home.
