She was 81 years old. The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern Thursday from 4-6 p.m. The funeral service will be private. Jule LeGreve Bowman was born in Albany on December 5, 1924 to Mr. and Mrs. John Edmund LeGreve. Mrs. LeGreve was the former Mamie Jule Wightman of Albany. Mrs.Bowman was the younger sister of the late, Charles Edmund LeGreve, who was killed in an automobile accident at the age of 18 in 1932. Mrs. Bowman graduated from Albany High School in 1941, and attended Breneau College in Gainesville, the University of Georgia, in Athens, and Finch College, in New York City. While at Breneau, she was inducted into Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. On June 22,1946, she married Air Force Capt. Charles Lee Bowman of Hickory, NC at First Methodist Church in Albany. They met while Capt. Bowman was stationed at Albany's Turner Field. After they married, they moved to several locations, and raised two daughters while her husband continued serving in the Air Force. During that time, she was a member and officer in the Air Force Officer's Wives Club on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa where she helped start a gift shop run by it's members that still existed today. After her husband, Lt. Col. Bowman, retired in 1964, the family decided to retire in Albany. They joined the First United Methodist Church where her fam- ily had been members for many years. Mrs. Bowman was also a member of Palmyra Heights Garden Club, former member of the Charity League of Albany, Charter member of Doublegate Country Club, and was once a member of the Doublegate Ladies Golf Association. Mrs. Bowman took great pleasure in her hobbies, which included gardening, cooking, playing bridge needlework, golf, and enjoyed world travel. She was a devoted lover of animals, particularly poodles. She is survived by her husband, Charles L. Bowman, as well as her two Daughters, Linda Bowman Young, Nancy Bowman Ventulett and her husband, Jay all of Albany. She also leaves five grandchildren: Laura Haley Creel and her husband, Howe of Eugene, OR, Lee Haley Jones and her husband, Tyier of Duluth, GA, Brett A. Young and wife, Natalia of Bridgeville, PA, Brian A. Young and wife, Linney of Alpharetta, GA, and John L. Young of Hyde Park, NY. Mrs. Bowman also has a step granddaughter: Katherine Ventulett Hernacki and husband,Mike. William C. Jones and Elizabeth H. Jones of Duluth, GA are her great-grandchildren.
