Second Ave. Albany, Ga. died Dec 16 1995. Funeral services Monday, 3 PM at the Walden Chapel of First United Methodist Church. Dr. Donald M. Kea (Former pastor of First Meth) and Rev. George Durham officiating. Interment at Riverside Cemetery. The family is at the residence of Amy Knight, (address removed) and will receive friends Sunday, 6 to 8 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Ramona C. Caldwell. Those desiring may make memorials to The YOUNG At Heart Club c/0 First United Methodist Church. Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors Alva Whaley Cannon- poll worker Alva Whaley Cannon, 89 of 206 W. Second Ave. died Saturday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 3 P.M. Monday at the Walden Chapel of First United Methodist Church with burial in Riverside Cemetery. The Revs. Dr. Donald M. Kea and George Durnam will officiate. A native of Shellman, Mrs. Cannon has lived in Albany for over 50 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Beaulah akeford Sunday School Class and the Young at Heart Club. She was retired from the Diana Shop and a poll worker for the Dougherty County Election Board. Survivers include two daughter, Joanne C Kincaid of Ironton, Ohio and Virginia C. McPherson of Quincy, Fl.; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The family is at the residence of Amy Knight (address removed), and will receive friends 6-8 P.M. today at Kimbrell Stern Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to the Young at Heart Club c/o First United Methodist Church. Additional Comments: (I lived across the street from Mrs. Cannon in 1955-and played with her daughter Va. My Mother always told me they were "my" kinfolks. When I got into genealogy-and found I had a Cannon line, I interview Mrs. Cannon. About all she could tell me is that her husband's family came from Lee Co.I grew up with the Whaley's in Dawson.
