Sara Nell Carroll

AMERICUS — Sara Nell Carroll, 72, of Glenwood Road, Americus, died early 
Saturday morning, December 21, 2002, at her residence. A native of Montgomery, 
AL, born January 7, 1930 daughter of the late Marion Daniel Howell Sr. and 
Effie Folsom Howell, she had lived in this community for the past 30 years.

Mrs. Carroll was a member of the Nursing Honor Society, Retired Educators 
Association, and National League of Nurses. She was the Director of Associate 
Degree Program at Georgia Southwestern State University and Professor Emeritus 
of Nursing and a member of First Baptist Church of Americus.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of 
Americus, with Dr. Reed Crumbliss officiating. Graveside services will be held 
at 4 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Ben Hill County with the Rev. 
Greg Carroll officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 
221 S. Lee, Americus, GA 31709 or a charity of choice. Visitation will be held 
from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. today (Sunday), at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Dick Carroll of Americus; one daughter, 
Ellen Carroll White of Leesburg; one son, Drew Carroll of Blakely; and three 
grandchildren, Ed White, Howell White and Kathryn White.
