Colon Chambers

ALBANY — Colon Chambers, 86, of  W. Whitney Ave., died Friday, December 27, 
2002 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 3, 2003, Bethel A.M.E. Church, 
with burial in Floral Memory Garden Cemetery. The Rev. Ernest Davis Jr. 
officiating.

Born January 11, 1916 in Lowndes County, AL, Mr. Chambers was a retired tractor 
mechanic. He was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, where he was a member of the 
usher board, a member of the trustee board; and also a Boy Scout leader. He 
attended Lowndes County, AL, public schools.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Holloway of Orange Village, OH, and 
Doris Simmons of Pensacola, FL; and seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren 
and four great-great-grandchildren.

The remains of Mr. Chambers will lie-in state at the church on Friday morning 
from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
