Funeral services will be held Friday, 2 p.m. at Liberty Hill Baptist Church, with burial in the church cemetery, in Worth County. The Revs. Douglas Hatcher and Preston Wilson will officiate. Pallbearers are the following: Scott Clayton, Adam Clayton, Ben Clayton, Clint Nobles, Alan Braswell, Todd Johnson and Brent Braswell. Born on October 14, 1915 in Tift County, GA, Mr. Clayton was the son of the late Mary Jane Phelps and Marion Clayton. He was retired from the Marine Corp Logistics Base in the Warehousing Department. He was a member of the American Legion Doerun Post and served in the Army during the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Campaign. He was the widower of Gertrude Evelyn Howell Clayton. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, James M. Clayton and Bonnie of Moultrie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Davidson and Earl of Albany and Joy Meadows and Chris of Doerun; two sisters, Myrtle Cox Branch of Lenox and Georgia Aultman of Sylvester; and six grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren. Visitation will be held today (Thursday) from 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
