Lelia Joiner Cooper


ALBANY — Lelia Joiner Cooper, 96, of Albany died Thursday, January 23, 2003, at 
Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, 3 PM at Oakview Cemetery. The Rev. 
Thad Haygood will officiate.

A native of Albany, Mrs. Cooper was a homemaker and a life long member of First 
United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rear Admiral 
Jacob Elliott Cooper in 1974 and her daughter, Ann Cooper Whitesel.

She is survived by her three grandchildren, Elizabeth Parrott and her husband, 
John of New Orleans, LA, Laura Killion of Cary, NC, and Thomas K. Whitesel III 
of Minneapolis, MN; six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to First United Methodist Church, 
P.O. Box 448, Albany, GA 31702.
