The Rev.Frank Hughes will officiate. A native of Texas, KY, Mr. Curtis was born to the late Lewis and Beatrice Ward Curtis. He moved with his parents to Albany from New Washington, IN, in 1958. He enlisted in the Army shortly there after for three years. He returned to Albany, where he was a bus driver for the Dougherty County School System also worked on the Davis Farm. He re-enlisted in the Army from 1964-72 and was stationed in Germany for two tours,Ft. Carson, CO, Ft. Devon, MA, and Iceland and served in Vietnam. In 1972 he made Lee County home and was a bus dri ver for the Lee County School System. He also worked for Oakland Plantation,Haley Farms, a security guard service and was a truck driver before his retirement from MCLB in 1997 after 14 years of service. Mr. Curtis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, and was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Curtis. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Olene Curtis of Leesburg; two sons, Larry Ward Curtis Jr. and Wesley Curtis, both of Sasser; two daughters, Wanda Curtis of Leesburg, and Wendy Montgomery and her husband, Brandon of Sylvester; two sisters, Judy Schlageter and her husband, Mike of Yukon, OK, and Connie Curtis of Bargetown, KY; and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Grace Montgomery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 p.m;-9 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Those desiring may make donations to The American Heart Association or The First Baptist Church of Leesburg.
