Harris N. Day ALBANY — The Rev. Harris N. Day, 79, of Whispering Pines Road, died Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at Palmyra Medical Centers. Funeral services will be held Monday, 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, with burial in Floral Memory Garden Cemetery. The Rev. H.B. Johnson Jr. will officiating. Born November 8, 1923 in Dougherty County, the Rev. Day was an associate minister at Friendship Baptist Church, where he was also a member. He graduated from Madison High School in Albany. He was former president of the NWACP, also president of the South Doughertys Voters League. He was a member of King Solomon Lodge No. 14 and a member of the Golden Key Club. Survivors include his wife, Flora W. Day of Albany; a sister, Pearl Davis of Hartford, CT; two daughters, Alberta (Kenney) Martin and Elouise Walker, both of Albany; three sons, Calvin Payton and Jerome Wiggins, both of Albany, and Joe (Allie) Dupree of Donalsonville; and 16 grandchildren and 22 great- grandchildren. The remains of the Rev. Day will lie-in-state at the church on Monday from 2 p.m. until the funeral hour.
