Douglas SYLVESTER — Herschel L.“Buddy” Douglas, 51, of Sylvester, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at Phoebe Worth Medical Center, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Banks Funeral Home Chapel, with cremation to follow after service. The Rev. Tim Mathews officiating. Born in Worth County, GA, on February 11, 1956, Mr. Douglas was the son of the late Grover Douglas and Emma Posey Osborne. He was a self-employed salvage dealer who was formerly employed with Flint River Textile in Albany and Avondale Mills in Tifton. He enjoyed traveling and loved animals. Survivors include five sisters and brothers-in-law, June Grover (Truman) of Jamersville, NC, Judy Hunt (Melvin) and Wanda Bridges, all of Albany, Martha Ann Handley (Tony) of Mystic, and Michele Sullivan (Jimmy) of Sylvester; a brother, J.R. Osborne (Nikki) of Poulan; 10 nieces and nephews, 14 great- nieces and nephews and a number of aunts and uncles. In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Douglas. The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
