L. Markey Dies in Hospital" Mrs. George L. Markey, 32, died in Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital Sunday afternoon at 5:50 o'clock following an illness of only a few weeks. News of her untimely death brings sorrow to a wide circle of friends who knew and loved her. Mrs. Markey underwent a minor operation several weeks ago. Complications developed and a second operation followed, her condition becoming critical last Thursday. Before her marriage Mrs. Markey was Miss Lois Curtis. She was born in Mansfield, but moved to Albany when a small child and attended school here, graduating from Albany High School in 1924. She was a devoted member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church and an active worker in the Sunday school and Woman's Missionary Union. Surviving are her husband and a 9 year old son, George L. Markey, Jr.; her father, Mr. W. U. curtis; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Chambers, of Marietta, and Miss Marian Curtis; one brother, Mr. Ray Curtis, of Columbia SC and a half brother, Tommy Curtis and a half sister, Anne Curtis. They have the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement. The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon and 2:30 o'clock in Byne Memorial Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. G. A. Cooper, pastor. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers, Max A. Sheppard, T. J. Terrell, E. O. Owens, W. J. Wilder, H. D. Peek and David T. Dekle are asked to meet at the Albany Undertaking Company's establishment at 2 o'clock.
