The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** Albany Herald on Monday Jul 29, died Sunday Jul 28 1940 "Miss Hathcer Dies After Brief Illness" Miss Lucille Hatcher, who had resided in Albany approximately eight years, died yesterday afternoon in the Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital after an illness of 10 days. Miss Hatcher who resided with Dr. and Mrs. C. R. McKemie at the time of her death had formed a wide circle of friends in Albany, who were grieved to learn of her death. She is survived by three brothers, Mr. Lloyd Hatcher of Albany, Mr. S. W. Hatcher of Birmingham, Ala., and Mr. William Hatcher also of Albany; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph M. Branch of Davisboro, Mrs. Charles B. Byles of New Orleans, LA., Mrs William S. Dean of South Bend, Ind. and Mrs. C. R. McKemie of Albany. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Dawson. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 4 o'clock at the residence of Dr. C. R. McKemie. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Joseph M. Branch, pastor of the Davisboro Baptist Church and a brother-in-law of Miss Hatcher. He will be assisted by the Rev. W. Raleigh White, pastor of the First Baptist Church here, and the Rev. J. Ed Fain, pastor of the First Methodist Church. Interment will follow a graveside service to be conducted by the Rev. W. H. Barrett, pastor of the Dawson Baptist church, in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Dawson. Pallbearers will be: Messrs. Hubert Mosely of Dawson, Clyde Newman, D. F. English of Dawson, W. L. Clifton, J. A. Powell, and J. R. King. The Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
