Strother" From Tuesday's Daily Herald. Mrs. W. A. Strother died at her home on Commerce Street near Monroe, yesterday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock after a brief illness with meningitis. In the Herald of yesterday it was stated that Mrs. Strother was critically ill and that all hope for her recovery had been abandoned by the attending physicians. The news cast a gloom over the entire city and numerous were the expressions of sorrow to be heard on every hand. Mrs. Strother lived less that fifteen hours after her malady had been positively diagnosed as meningitis. She had not been feeling well for several days, having contracted a severe cold which was accompanied by a light fever. On Sunday night she grew worse, and about 1 o'clock yesterday morning her son, Dr. C. B. Strother recognized the unmistakable symptoms of meningitis. The case developed into one of the most aggravated types that the attending physicians had ever see, and at 3L30 o'clock yesterday afternoon the angel of death came, Mrs. Strother having been unconscious for several hours prior to that time. Mrs Strother was the relict of the late Dr. William A. Strother, one of the most prominent physicians of Southwestern Georgia, who died in this city three years ago. Prior to her marriage she was Miss Lula Stevens Bacon, of Savannah, a member of one of the foremost families in Georgia. She was regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the state, and as a representative of that glorious, magnificent womanhook for which the South is noted, she had few equals. Mrs. Strother wasa splendid woman in every sense that is implied by that term. To all whoever knew her, even to the mere extent of a casual aquaintance, she seemed to represent the purest type of beautiful, stately, charming womanhood and there was a magnetism abut her that proved irresistible to those with whom she was thrown in contact. As a wife and mother she was the personification of gentleness, thoughtfulness and self-denial, and her greatest ambition in life was to make her home an early paradise for those she loved. As a friend and counselor she was sought by many and as a consecrated Christian her life was above reproach. In joy and in sorrow she was animated by the same beautiful character, and she died as she had lived, confident of her reward in the world to come. Two weeks ago Mrs. Strother foretold her death, a presentiment that she would be a victim of meningitis coming to her during the last illness of little Guy Hilsman, and she had arranged her business affairs in anticipation of her coming dissolution. She leaves three children, Dr. C. B. Strother, Miss Minna Strother and Master Weyman Strother all of this city. Messrs. E. H. Bacon, of Eastman, A. S. Bacon of Savannah, D. C. Bacon of Sparks and Dr. W. W. Bacon of this city are her brothers, and Mrs. C. T. Osborn of Columbus and Mrs. Caro B. Warren of Macon are her sisters. the funeral will take place from the family residence on Commerce street at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Rev. R. W. Davis, pastor of the Baptist Church officiating. MRS STROTHERS FUNERAL From Wednesday's Herald. The funeral of the late Mrs. Lula S. Strothers occurred from the family residence on Commerce street yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Owing to the exceeding inclemency of the weather, there was not a very large crowd in attendance. The casket was covered with the most beautiful floral designs, sent by loving and sympathetic friends. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. B. W. Davis, who paid a most beautiful tribute to the noble character of the deceased. It was one of the most impressive huneral services ever held in Albany. From the house the funeral cortage proceeded to Oakview cemetery, where the services were concluded, and the remains laid in their last resting place. Dougherty County Marriages WILLIAM A.
