Her funeral service will be at 11 AM Thursday at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow in Floral Memory Gardens by the graves of her parents, Walter and Mabel Overby. The Rev. Dr. Bill Eidenire will officiate. A native of Albany, she was a graduate of Albany High School in 1944. Dot was crowned the Cotton Ball Queen at Radium Springs Casino in 1944. She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, KY, on a music scholarship. She loved to play the piano and organ for many churches where she had lived. In 1958, she married Robert M. Pollock Sr. who preceded her in death in 1993. A daughter, Kathleen Thompson, died in 1995. She was instrumental in starting a hospice program in Van Buren County, Iowa, after the death of her husband and daughter to cancer. She had lived in various places in the midwest including St. Louis and Kimberling City, MO, Fairfield and Keosauqua, Iowa, where she was residing at the time she married Renno J. (R.J.) Free, in 1996. She moved back to Albany following her marriage to Mr. Free. In Albany, she was a member of PEO, Southwest Georgia Exchange Club and Lamad Chapel. Survivors include her husband, Renno J. "R.J." Free of Albany; two sons, Robert M. Pollock Jr. and his wife Nancy of San Antonio, TX, and Curtis J. Pollock of Erba, UT; a daughter, Cynthia J. Thompson and her husband Bud of Kirksville, MO; three grandsons; one great-grandson; two brothers, Willard Overby of Escondida, CA, and Bo Overby of Gainesville, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. today.
