Oliver Gaines Jr. 

ALBANY — Oliver Gaines Jr., 90, of Camden Lane died August 28, 2007, at his 
residence. 

The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2007, at Second Mt. 
Zion Baptist Church, 1010 Old Pretoria Rd., Albany, with interment in the 
church cemetery. The Rev. Dr. Theodus Drake will officiate. 

A native of Albany, GA, Mr. Gaines was a graduate of River Road School in 
Albany. He was a W.W.II Army veteran. He was a member of Second Mt. Zion 
Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board and the Christ committee. 

Survivors include two sons, Lindburgh Gaines of Daytona Beach, FL, and 
Roosevelt and Elizabeth Gaines of Albany; two daughters, Bessie Gaines Smith of 
Albany and Yvonne Gaines Griffin of Atlanta; 33 grandchildren; 36 great-
grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. 

The remains of Mr. Gaines will be placed in the church Sunday from 2 p.m. until 
the funeral hour.
