Geneva Smith Gibson

ALBANY — The graveside funeral service of Geneva Smith Gibson, 87, of 
Sylvester, who died Sunday, February 9, 2003, at Tift General Hospital in 
Tifton, GA, will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Gordon Cemetery in 
Damascus, GA. The Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.

A native of Miller County, Mrs. Gibson had resided in Sylvester for a number of 
years. She was an artist, writer, quilt maker and homemaker. She was a member 
of Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, James Leslie Gibson, two sons, William Lamar Gibson and James Leroy 
Gibson.

Survivors include two sons, Hank Gibson and wife Joyce of Alpharetta, GA, and 
Big Ernie Soul Gibson and wife Cindy of Sylvester, GA; three daughters, Joan 
Erstling of Sumner, GA, Elaine Sears and husband Martin of Albany, GA, Ella 
Mikell and husband James of Holiday, FL; a sister, Essie Shepard of Colquitt, 
GA; 23 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. today at Mathews Funeral 
Home.
