The funeral service of Walter Frank Hughes, Sr., 51, of Ashburn, who died 
Wednesday, will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Mathews Oaklawn Chapel 
Funeral Home here with internment in Riverside Cemetery.
A native of Dougherty County, Mr. Hughes had resided in Ashburn for 15 years.  
A Pentecostal, he was employed in shipping and handling at the Marine Corps 
Logistics Base.
Survivors include his wife, Hilda N. Hughes of Ashburn; two sons, Walter F. 
Hughes, Jr. and Charles Edward Hughes, both of Ashburn; a daughter, Belinda 
Faye Barnes of Ashburn; a stepson, Danny Wayne Hancock of Ashburn; a 
stepdaughter, Peggy Dianne Norman, of Ashburn; his mother, Alma Hughes O'Neill 
of Albany; a brother, Gordon W. Hughes of Albany; a sister, Martha Jane 
Phillips of Calhoun; and 12 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. today at the funeral 
home.
