Since 1937 he had lived in Albany where he played football and graduated from Albany High School. He attended Gordon Military Academy and The University of Georgia where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He was a WWII veteran and served in the Air Force as a B-25 tail gunner in Europe. He was also a retired finance manager with Motor Contract and Associates. Mr. Hatcher was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, the Alpha Sunday School Class, and served as an usher for many years. He was a member of the South Georgia Senior Golf Association, Benevolent and Protective Order of The Elks #713, and The Golden Key Kiwanis. A sister, Mary Mosley, preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Betty T. Hatcher of Albany; two sons, Jimmy Hatcher of Atlanta and Bubba Hatcher of Albany; brother, W.L. Hatcher of Atlantic Beach, Fl.; four grandchildren, Hunter Hatcher and Lauren Hatcher, both of Atlanta, Blaire Hatcher of Auburn, Al. and Mallory Hatcher of Albany; and a number of other relatives.
