Betty Lou Russell Hiers

SYLVESTER — Betty Lou Russell Hiers, 80, of Cannon Road, Moultrie, died Friday, 
December 27, 2002 at her daughter's residence in Dougherty County.

A graveside funeral service will be held 3 p.m. today (Sunday) in Sardis 
Cemetery in Colquitt County, with Pastor Robert Baggs officiating.

Born in Colquitt County on August 18, 1922, Mrs. Hiers was the daughter of the 
late John Louis Russell and Ophelia Dunlap Russell; also she is the widow of 
Charles A. Hiers. She is of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Hiers returned to Colquitt 
County in 1995 after residing in Ingliss, FL, for several years.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Phyllis and Bob McGirt of 
Albany and Judy Byrd of Atlanta; two brothers, J.T. Russell of Moultrie and 
Marvin Russell of Sarasota, FL; and four grandchildren, four great-
grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends today (Sunday) in the Social Hall of Sardis 
Primitive Baptist Church from 2 p.m. until the hour of service.
