Eugene Talmadge Merritt

CUTHBERT — Eugene Talmadge Merritt, 64, of Cuthbert died Tuesday, January 7, 
2003, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be 
held Friday at 11 a.m. from Mt. Hebron Baptist Church near Cuthbert. The Rev. 
Jackie Williams and the Rev. David Murphy will officiate with interment in the 
church cemetery.

Mr. Merritt was born May 3, 1938, in Randolph County, son of the late Key S. 
Merritt and Jessie Phelps Merritt. He was the owner of M & M Logging Inc. and 
was very active in Mt. Hebron Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Engram Merritt of Cuthbert; two sons and 
daughters-in-law, Roy Charles "Rooster" and Tammy Merritt and Richard Daryle 
and Lisa Merritt, all of Cuthbert; a brother, Roy Merritt of Cuthbert; a 
sister, Thelma Cannington of Morris and three grandchildren, Carrie Ann 
Merritt, Drake Merritt and Jesse Merritt, all of Cuthbert.

The family will receive friends today from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
