Eugene Talmadge Smith

COLQUITT — Eugene Talmadge Smith, 71, of Colquitt, died Tuesday, January 7, 
2003, at Miller County Hospital.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with 
interment in the Colquitt City Cemetery with full military honors. The Rev. 
Jerry McArthur will officiate.

A native of Miller County, Mr. Smith was born August 20, 1931. He was a retired 
purchasing director with Miller County Hospital. He was of the Free Will 
Baptist faith. He retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of 
service.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Smith of Colquitt; stepmother, Nita Smith 
of Colquitt; three sons, Steven Smith and wife Carla of Headland, AL, Randy 
Smith and wife Kay of Colquitt, and Wes Smith of Colquitt; two daughters, Vicki 
Whitaker of Tallahassee, FL, and Deana Lee and husband Glenn of Colquitt; a 
brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Nan Smith of Colquitt; two sisters and 
brothers-in-law, Mildred and Vernon Pickren of Colquitt and Debra and Leon 
Durden of Colquitt; nine grandchildren, Josh Whitaker, Megan Whitaker, Zac 
Whitaker, Heather Shiver, Gage Smith, Ginger Smith, Blade Smith, James Garrett 
Smith and Johnathon Smith; two great-grandchildren, Hillary Harrell and Hannah 
Lee.

Visitation will be 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
