She was 59 years old. Mrs. Jenkins received a degree in speech and language pathology from the University of Georgia and was a devoted special education teacher for over 20 years. She was active in numerous community organizations, including the Junior League and the Girls Club of Albany. Most recently, she worked with the Volunteer Program at The Carter Center in Atlanta. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. John Lewis Jenkins, former rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Albany and St. Mark's Church, Radium Springs; daughter, Margaret Hewell Jenkins of Atlanta; daughter, Elizabeth Jenkins Bush, son-in-law, Matthew Moser Bush and grandson, Clay Gordon Bush, all of Savannah. Survivors also include her brother, James G. (Jim) Hewell; sister-in-law, Mignon Hewell and nephew, Gregory Hewell of Atlanta. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 12 p.m. at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Atlanta. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice Atlanta, 1244 Park Vista Drive, Atlanta, GA 30319.
