James King

ALBANY — James King, 76, of Newton Road, died Friday, January 3, 2003, at 
Palmyra Medical Centers.

The funeral service will be at noon Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in 
Sasser with burial in County Line Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Larry James 
will officiate.

Mr. King was a native of Webster County.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Clay Berry King of Albany; two daughters, 
Helen King and Gwendolyn (Thomas) Laster of Albany; a goddaughter, Geraldine W. 
Henry of Albany; six sons, Alfred (Phyllis) King, Walter (Irene) King, Eddie 
Jerome (Jennifer) Clay, Jeremiah Hart and Reginald Berry, all of Albany, and 
Gary (Rita) King of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Roberta Cooley of Albany and 
Gladys Johnson of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Willie L. Lawson of Albany and 
Fletcher L. Lawson of Lake Wales, Fla.; several grandchildren and great-
grandchildren.
