Leach COLUMBUS, GA — Roy B.Leach, 90, of Columbus, GA passed away Saturday, December 31, 2005, at the Columbus Hospice House surrouded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, with a military Chaplain officiating. Interment will follow the service at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends (Tuesday) this evening from 7p.m.-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Leach was born in Laurens County, GA, July 12,1915, son of the late Richard Bert Leach and Alice Lee Glover Leach. He retired from the Army in 1962 and continued working with Civil Service. A decorated veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. He was a loving and dedicated husband to his wife Gerta for 58 years. A dedicated family man and a Baptist by faith, Mr. Leach believed in God, Family and Country. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by three brothers, Jack, John, and Robert Leach. Mr. Leach is survived by his wife, Gerta Heider Leach of Columbus; children, Margaret R. Hamrick and Richard W. Leach,both of Columbus, and Robert and Linda Leach of Albany; grandchildren, Heidi Hamrick,Michael and Lori Leach, Donna and Shawn Bullington, and Debbie and Marlin Poole III; and nine great-grandchildren.
