Massey DAWSON — Virginia B. Massey, 81, of Bronwood died on Saturday, January 4, 2003 at her residence. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday from the Chapel of Harvey Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Parker and the Rev. Brooks Partain officiating. Mrs. Massey was born on October 24, 1921 in Whigham, GA. Mrs. Massey was a graduate of Whigham High School and Freeman Business College in Albany. Mrs. Massey worked with the Bank of Terrell as a teller for four years, the Dawson Trading Post as a bookkeeper for 10 years. She also worked with the family business, Massey Wholesale Company as a sales person for 15 years and the Dawson News as a news correspondent for a number of years. Mrs. Massey was a member of the Bronwood United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, the Murray Heath Sunday School Class, the Mary Brantley Chapter of the UDC, and the Gideon Auxiliary-Dawson Camp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mosden Brock and Morris Brock, both of Whigham. Survivors include her husband, Ed L. Massey Jr. of Bronwood; three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Mary Massey, Edward and Donna Massey and Tom and Jill Massey, all of Dawson; nine grandchildren, David Massey, Vicki Massey, and Richard Massey, all of Atlanta, Kevin Massey, Brian Massey, Mark Massey, Brock Massey, Khristina Massey and Sherrer Massey, all of Dawson; one sister, Doris Arline of Augusta; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Edsel and Martha Brock of Whigham, Leonard and Willow Brock of Fort Worth, TX, and Lynwood and Donna Brock of Dallas, TX; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Bronwood United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 9, Bronwood, GA 39826 and to the Gideons, P.O. Box 502, Dawson GA 39842.
