Kimbrell Stern - Obituaries
Date of Birth: March 28, 1956  
Date of Death: June 15, 2007  

Michael James Newton, 51 of 1313 Sharon Ave. died Friday, June 15, 2007 at 
Palmyra Medical Center. Born in Washington, DC he had lived in Albany since 
1972 and was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. He worked in 
construction for many years, coached little league baseball at the 8th Ave. 
ball park, was an avid Braves baseball fan, enjoyed target shooting as a hobby 
and helped with security for the Bo Henry Band. 

Survivors include his wife, Katherine Jones Newton, two daughters, Jodi M. 
Maloney of St. Mary’s, GA, Emily Anelle Newton, of Albany, a son, C. Michael 
Newton of Albany and his mother, C. Maxine Newton of Albany. Those desiring may 
make memorials to Life Link of Georgia, 2875 Northwood Parkway, Norcross, GA 
30071, Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, 2200 Dawson Rd, Albany, GA 
31707 or St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, 421 Edgewood Lane, Albany, GA 31707. 

There will be a prayer vigil Sunday, 6 PM at Kimbrell-Stern with a visitation 
to follow until 8 PM.His funeral service will be held 10 AM Monday, June 18, 
2007, at Kimbrell-Stern with interment at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Finbarr 
Stanton will officiate.
